A little clarity goes a long way.
Get to know the essentials of business email and domain registration before choosing your setup.
What is business email hosting?
Business email hosting lets you use email addresses at your own domain, such as hello@yourbusiness.co.za. The provider hosts the mailboxes; exact features depend on your service agreement.
Is domain registration included?
Domain registration is part of the Mmata service conversation. Your quote must confirm whether registration fees are bundled or charged separately, as well as the renewal cost.
Can I use my existing domain?
Often, yes. Email can usually be connected by updating DNS records. Confirm domain access and compatibility before making changes; a registration transfer may not be necessary.
Can I keep my existing messages?
Migration may be possible, depending on the current provider, mailbox size and access. Confirm the scope, timing and any fees before changing your email setup.
Can I use email on my phone and computer?
Access methods vary by service. Ask which webmail, desktop clients and mobile apps are supported, and confirm the required connection settings.
How much storage do I get?
Mailbox storage, attachment limits and retention vary by setup. These details are confirmed in your quote rather than assumed.
What security and backup features are included?
Ask about spam filtering, encryption, SPF, DKIM, DMARC, backups and recovery. Their availability and configuration must be confirmed for your chosen service.
How do domain renewals work?
Domains are registered for a fixed period and require renewal. Confirm renewal pricing, expiry notices, payment deadlines and recovery rules for your extension.
Does a domain registration include a website?
No. A domain, website hosting and email hosting are separate services. Your quote should explicitly state which services are included.
Does this website place an order or send an enquiry?
Not yet. You can prepare and download an enquiry draft. It is not sent to Mmata, does not reserve a domain and is not an order or service activation.
